All parents and guardians of LSHS students who have a passion for the performing arts are encouraged to attend the meetings. Become a booster even if your child is not currently enrolled in the performing arts courses. It doesn’t cost you a thing, only your time.

ABOUT
Our Roots
The LSHS Music and Drama Boosters, is a group of dedicated parents and directors with a passion for the performing arts and a desire to support the students and directors of the LSHS Theater and Music Department. In order to help the directors' visions become reality and to assist students as much as possible, the Drama Boosters raise funds to purchase departmental needs that the school budget does not cover; provide snacks and dinners for student productions; organize biannual trips and costs through fundraising; and secure volunteer staff on production nights and for the many theater and music department activities throughout the year.
ACTIVITIES
DRAMA / SPEECH
Our Drama Department puts on a play or musical every year. Students audition, they practice late nights, join in on multiple fundraising opportunities and give two energized performances.
Our Speech Department competes in Iowa Large Group and IndividualÂ
Speech Competitions after months of practice. Each category consists of Districts, State, and All State.
We also co-host with Band and Chorus our Dinner Theater production and Variety Show production
We provide our acting talents to the Wagaman Mill and Museum for their Annual Cemetery Walk.
BAND
Our Band Department competes and performs in MANY activities through out the year. Including; Marching Band and sporting events, Concerts, Variety Show, Dinner Theater, Iowa Jazz championship, Solo/Ensemble contests, State Large Group, Tulip Time, SCIBA Honor Band, Simpson HS/MS Honor Band, State Jazz Festival, Honor Band Festival @ Central, Drake Honor Band, SEP Honor Band, Indianola Jazz Encounter, All Iowa Concert Band Festival, MS Solo/Ensemble @ Grandview Christian, Hoover Jazz, SCIBA Jazz Festival, State Marching Contest, Centeral College Honor Band Festival, All State Honors Music Festival, and Oktemberfest
CHORUS
Our LSHS Chorus performs and competes in several community events and district / state competitions. Some of the events they participate in include; Sporting events where a small group or individual sings the national anthem, Seasonal Concerts, Honor Choirs, Solo & Ensemble Competitions, Baccalaureate, School assemblies, the Variety Show, and our Dinner Theater. All State Choir is also entered by participants who practice, try out, and make the cut.
